Kris Kobach, a Republican candidate for Kansas secretary of state, has said that if he is elected, he will push to bring the initiative and referendum process to Kansas. Kansas is currently one of 26 states without an initiative process. The adoption of the initiative in Kansas would require the legislature to adopt a constitutional amendment and refer it to the voters. Kobach is one of three Republicans running in next Tuesday's primary election.
