A number of you have told us you want to donate some money or time to rebuilding New Orleans while you're attending NCSL's 2008 Legislative Summit. Consequently, we've created some unique volunteer opportunities that will allow you to make a difference while you're in southern Louisiana.
First, we're setting up a food bank at the convention center where you can donate funds to the Second Harvest Food Bank. You may also go to the bank and volunteer on Saturday, July 26 and package food items for families in New Orleans. For those wanting to leave a lasting impression, we are working with a unique group called Foundation for Hospital Arts. They will bring in paint-by-color art panels that, when completed, will be donated for placement in children's areas at local hospitals. We're also working on opportunities with America's WETLAND, which is working to conserve and save coastal Louisiana.
Check this blog or our volunteer web page for updates as we get closer to the big event, and plan to make a difference when you attend this year's Legislative Summit.
