The Buzz: Podcast on Energy & Environment
Yesterday, we talked about universal health care and how the issue seems to be gaining bipartisan support in America. The same can be said for another issue that perhaps would have been unthinkable 10 years ago -- global warming.
In today's podcast on energy and environment issues, Director of NCSL's State Policy Research Division Larry Morandi explains why legislation approved in California last year is generating some momentum on bills across the nation to reduce greenhouse gases. He explains how states, under the absence of action on the national level, are making an impact to reduce the country's dependence on foreign oil.
More background on energy and environment issues are available on NCSL's Web site, including this article on climate change, as well as this blog entry featuring audio of the sponsor of the aforementioned California legislation, California House Speaker Fabian Núñez.
This is part four in our 10-part series on the top 10 issues facing state legislatures in 2007. In case you missed them, you can listen to our first three on budget pressures, immigration and universal health care.
