New on NCSL's podcast, The Buzz at State Legislatures, I talk with NCSL elections expert Jennie Drage Bowser about trends in legislation as the presidential campaign ramps up a lot earlier than usual.
More and more states are moving their primaries earlier in the year so they can play a bigger role in the process of deciding which candidates get their party's nomination.
States are also considering bills that would make it more convenient to vote and allow people to vote absentee without an excuse. And some are also looking back to paper ballots. Listen to the podcast. (7:21)
Nicole - you might want to take a look at Ohio SOS Jennifer Brunner's efforts re: voting. Two from this past week: including voter registration info with high school diplomas and making it easier for third party candidates to get on ballots. (I hope you don't mention those on the podcast or it will be way too obvious that I didn't listen yet!)

Thanks for the tip, Jill. We'll take a look at those. Nope, they're not mentioned in the podcast. We didn't get that specific.
