A number of Arizona incumbent legislators lost their seats on Tuesday this week as reported in the Arizona Capitol Times. Senate President Pro Tem Robert Blendu, Senator Tom O'Halleran, House Majority Whip John McComish, and Representatives Eddie Farnsworth, Trish Groe and Pete Hershberger, all Republicans, were defeated in their primary races. Hershberger was vying for a Senate seat. One Democrat, Tom Prezelski, is trailing with early and provisional ballots still to be counted. The losses of O'Halleran and Hershberger, moderate Republicans, will set the stage for a more conservative Senate.
In the First Congressional District, former state representative Ann Kirkpatrick won the Democratic primary. More detailed election results can be found through the Arizona Secretary of State site.
