Learning about representative democracy can be fun. Especially when it involves Lunchtime with Dr. Broccoli. This new nine-minute video, produced by the Center on Congress at Indiana University, explains the concept of compromise in Congress. The animated characters carry on a lively discussion about compromise, and help a hungry lion find common ground with others, in the session led by Dr. Broccoli. The video also offers historical examples of compromise reached through debate and negotiation. It is geared for upper elementary and middle school students, but can be enjoyed by all.
