In Friday's Washington Post, there was a wonderful profile of the Census Bureau's point person for getting the PL 94-171 redistricting data out to states, Cathy McCully. NCSL helped get Public Law 94-171 passed by Congress in the early 1970s, and we've been fortunate ever since to have outstanding contacts within the U.S. Census Bureau as partners. NCSL is indebted to Cathy and her team for their hard work and help in getting the data out to legislatures. That data will begin to arrive in legislative leaders offices in early February on a flow basis to states based on redistricting deadlines in each state. All states will have their redistricting data from the Census Bureau by April 1st. Congratulations Cathy and thank you for all of your assistance! Here's the link to the terrific WaPo story about Cathy: "From Loading Dock to Downloading."

in anticipation of the tsunami of (non governmental) tax payer pleas, to the congressional membership, in support of holding the line on the National Debt Ceiling, what will your plans be a the US Census Office for the next decade????
